WHATS INSIDE THE LAB?
Module 1: Setting Yourself Up for success - How to eat to balance hormones, optimize metabolism, & Support Gut health
This module is full of practical guidance that will set you up for success and help you to create a lifestyle out of your habits and choices. I cover many popular diets and explain why they often fail, as well as teach you how to eat to optimize your metabolism, balance your hormones, and support gut health. This is all knowledge that many people pay thousands of dollars to a health coach or nutritionist to teach them. I'm laying it all out for you in this module at a fraction of the cost.
Module 2: Ultra Processed Foods
In this module, we take a closer look at some of the toxic ingredients in ultra-processed foods, including compounds known as obesogens, which cause weight gain through increasing the number of fat cells in the human body. We dive into so many other compounds and ingredients to watch out for in processed food and I give practical hands on advice on healthy food swaps and clean processed food brands.
Module 3: Sugar/Artificial Sweeteners
According to the United States department of agriculture the average American consumes between 150-170 pounds of refined sugar in one year. The reality is the food industry is sneaky, and sugar is slipped into pretty much everything on our grocery store shelves. In this module we do a deep dive into how both sugar and artificial sweeteners impact your biology and how to identify the best and worst forms of each. I also walk you through how to balance your blood sugar naturally.
Module 4: Oils/Fats
There is a lot of confusion out there regarding which fats are better for your health.
So in this module I break it down for you - we look at the health benefits and draw backs of each different kind of fat, along with food sources of each, and ways to incorporate more healthy fats in your diet. I also cover how to know which fats/oils are safe to cook with.
Module 5: PRODUCE
When it comes to produce, one of the primary questions I get asked is - Is buying organic truly worth it? In this module, not only do I answer that question, but we take a deeper look into where our food comes from and the impact that conventional farming practices have had on our food and our soil. Because the truth is, our food is only as healthy as the soil that it is grown in. I also cover GMO crops, glyphosate, the use of herbicides/pesticides in both conventional and organic farming, as well as a discussion on anti-nutrients in plants and whether they are a concern for human health.
Module 6: Animal Protein
When it comes to animal protein, do you buy organic? Grass Fed? Cage-Free? Free-range? There are a lot of labels out there AND a lot of marketing gibberish to work through. So in this module I will clear up the confusion for you. You may be surprised how easy it is to see through the marketing gimmicks so that you can chose the healthiest possible choice for you and your family. I also share the health benefits of consuming wild caught fish and regeneratively raised meat, as well as some shopping tips to make things practical.
Module 7: Dairy & Dairy Alternatives
Is Dairy a Health Food? This is a loaded question that I answer in depth in this module. We’re breaking down all things dairy - Dairy Intolerance, Homogenization, Pasteurization, Raw Milk, Pasture Raised Regenerative Dairy, as well as a closer look at the health benefits of high quality dairy. For those of you who are dairy free due to intolerance or autoimmunity, I’ve got you. In this module I am also breaking down the health benefits and draw backs of certain dairy alternatives such as nuts milks and vegan butter.
Module 8: Bread/Grains
When it comes to bread and pasta, you either love it or you used to love it and now you can no longer eat it. Bread is a food that has been consumed pretty much since the dawn of humanity. So why do so many people these days have gluten intolerance? This is a question we dive into in this module. We also look at the health benefits and/or concerns with other grains such as rice, oats, and quinoa, and nuts/seeds.

The Girl Behind the Course
Hi! I'm Mandy Black
I am a wife, a momma, an avid yogi, and a lover of all things outdoors and adventure. I am also a holistic health coach and educator. My own personal health battles are what brought me to this career – from debilitating anxiety and panic attacks in my early 30’s, to my battle with Hashimotos Hypothyroidism, to watching my husband battle an autoimmune condition that stole several years of his life. It has been these experiences that have taught me how pivotal our health is in allowing us to make the most of this one life that we’ve been given. After years of education in the field of functional nutrition and hundreds of hours spent researching and building out this course, I'm so excited to launch it into the world and to inspire others towards a life of health and wholeness.

“Food contains information that speaks to our genes. It’s not just calories for energy. We are learning from research that food “talks” to our DNA, switching on or off genes that lead to health or disease. Every bite of food regulates your gene expression, hormones, immune system, brain chemistry, and even your micro biome. What you eat programs your body with messages of health or illnes.”
